Playful Language and Literacy
Providing language and literacy services to children in Atlanta, GA
Our Approach to Therapy
In our sessions, we use a play-based approach within a warm, supportive environment. We follow the child’s lead while guiding activities that build confidence, participation, and interest in learning. Executive function skills like—starting a task, organizing next steps, and flexible thinking—are imbedded within sessions in addition to each child’s individual literacy and goals, to assist with carryover at home and in the classroom.
Our approach to therapy includes:
Starting with connection and safety. We follow your child’s interests within clear routines to encourage engagement and fun.
Playful, hands-on learning. The children will learn by participating in fun yet purposeful activities.
Structured and flexible. Sessions have predictable flow and goals, with room to adapt based on energy levels and needs that day. :)
Literacy and language focused. We teach data driven literacy and language skills through multi-sensory, hands-on experiences.
Partnership. Families and teachers are all part of the team. We share practical strategies to carry skills into home and school.
Confidence and motivation are key! We celebrate effort and progress, so kids can see themselves as capable learners.
Evaluations
An evaluation assesses phonological awareness, reading, spelling, written expression, and comprehension skills in a low pressure, supportive environment.
Specific assessments used vary based on age and areas of reported concern. Evaluations results are used to develop individual goals and discover any gaps in learning. This is where we begin!
